Deseret’s Liberty Tree
Near the salted shadow of Brigham's dream
Where desert soil meets
Zion's gleam
They planted seeds of a fervent plea
In the land they named Deseret
The Liberty Tree
It grew 'mongst mountains
Wild and free
Branches whisperin' liberty's decree
With hearts as strong as iron chains
They sang of freedom
'cross the plains
Oh
The Liberty Tree in
Desert's light
Stands tall in the stars of night
Roots deep in dreams and sacrifice
Leaves whisperin' the price of life
Lasses in scarves and lads in threadbare clothes
Gathered 'neath its lofty boughs
With songs of old and new resolve
Their spirits bound never to dissolve
Wind through salt and scrubland bare
Carried tales of hope upon the air
Of pioneers and prophets' quest
Finding solace in the land out west
The rugged land was harsh and wild
Yet they stood firm
Reconciled
For liberty's call was all they knew
And the Liberty Tree in Deseret grew
