That's the thing is that they were, we were strongly independent for about two years, and we were still working for that till the basically late 1880s. And so you had, during that time, you had a lot of strong rhetoric, especially from Brigham Young, and there was the Reformation that maybe a lot of folks didn't, you know, we hear about the Christian Reformation, but a lot of folks don't know about the Mormon Reformation of the 1850s. And during that point, there, people were seeing a lot of miracles, and there was still a lot of, you know, the feds were claiming Utah, and they were doing a few things here and there, but basically being left alone. And then you have, which is discussed in the book, you have the Godbe influence, and because of the enemy within, that started to weaken the saints' resolve. And so you had, they were very strong and were able to resist a lot of the temptations when it was just this, you know, outside force coming down on you. And they were willing to burn, you know, Salt Lake to the ground. If the order was given, they, you know, they had no problem with that, to be able to stop the feds from invading. But the real problem was when we had people within that were claiming to be on board and on the same page, you know, the whole wolf in sheep's clothing idea. And that's when you start to see the saints weakening in their resolve.

That's something that I've noticed looking over just history in general is that people in general are much stronger. It's always the enemy within that causes the most problems just throughout history. We see the same idea happening all over the place where you have these, you know, rascally Californians like myself moving into more conservative areas like Texas, like Utah, Arizona, Idaho, you know, Florida, and they come in and they dilute, it's that changing the culture. It's much easier to do that with an influx of outsiders than it is to change the people from within. Look at what were the, some of the natural law principles of, like Hufendorf talked about, that the founding fathers talked about of everybody being in agreement on what the role of government is. And so if you want a group, you know, if you want to associate with a bunch of, you know, drug addicts that are philanderers, then that's fine. You guys can associate together, but that's not going to work if you have immoral people, those two things don't work. You're going, those two societies are going to clash. You can't have those things together.

And that's why, you know, the whole foundation, there's so many, it's the frustrating thing, right? Is we wake up to what's going on and we just want to do something and that do something disease is so dangerous. And so, but it's frustrating when we have to slow down and kind of get our bearings. It always reminds me, I think of like how this has to work, reminds me of the Karate Kid movie, the original one, and how Daniel always got frustrated when Mr. Miyagi was trying to make him paint the fence and sand the floor and all that kind of stuff. And he didn't realize why it was necessary to get those foundations. And that's the problem with right now, the Liberty Movement is nobody wants to take the time to get the foundations. They think that they've gone through a constitution class and that now they're ready to do the right thing. And it's just not the case. And so we just have to be patient until we're at a point where we can make effect, have the background to be able to do what needs to be done.
