It is neither a democracy nor is it a republic Now that may shock you you may want to throw tomatoes at me You may want to drag me out of this building and throw me to the wolves, but just give me a second Let me walk you through why this is a fact and why it's not just a distinction without a difference, but why it matters So when we go back to the Constitution of the United States And that is what it's referred to usually it's the Constitution people always say a Constitution of the United States But I'm going to tell you right now that that is also wrong It is the Constitution for the United States, and this is another distinction with a major important difference Okay, just look at the preamble of the Constitution right starts off We the people of the United States in order to form a more perfect Union, but it ends with the Constitution for the United States Now why does everybody refer to it as the Constitution of the United States? And what's the difference between of and for?
and This is really important because this is the foundation of the Constitution and without a proper understanding of this Its interpretation is completely manipulated So why does the change matter we look at the Constitution of The United States means a national government created it to govern a nation Okay, it's one country that creates a governing body or a governing document for that nation Whereas if it is a Constitution for the United States the states that were at the convention Created it to govern its creation Okay, so if it is for the United States it is for the creation of the creators Which the original 13 colonies this is very important. So How what what does that refer to? What does that matter? What does that?
Have to do with us being not a democracy and not a republic and why does that matter? Just go to article 4 section 4 and you're probably going to be saying Article 4 section 4 says that you're wrong that we are a republic, but let's let's read it Let's read article 4 section 4 of the Constitution. The United States shall guarantee to every state in this Union a Republican form of government Okay, so the Constitution says that it guarantees every state in the Union a Republican form of government, but what does it not say? It does not say that the United States is a Republican government It only merely guarantees to all of the states a Republican form of government Now the states are sovereign and that is why they are a republic but the general government is subject to the states to its creator and Therefore it is not sovereign and therefore it is not it cannot be a republic because it is not a nation Which is probably going to surprise you as well and we're going to get into we are a confederation of sovereign republics. So we are not a republic. We are a confederation of republics and that's a very important thing to distinguish.
