During the Marc Dutroux case, much of the evidence was put into another case file, called Dutroux-bis, under the assertion that it would make the original case take too long to prosecute. The victims, witnesses, and the public were told that this case would be investigated following the original, but it was promptly closed and no investigation was ever done into, among other things, the testimonies of the so-called X-witnesses, (mostly) anonymous victims and witnesses to the atrocities committed by Dutroux and his accomplices (which included police, government officials, UN representatives, royalty, and others).
This is an unofficial English translation from the original French. 712 pages.
