TRANSCRIPT

Don’t merge with Babylon.

Brigham Young explained this key principle, saying they want the Mormons to build cities for them to possess.

We move from Missouri, we go to Illinois, and we’re building up these cities, and then we get driven out.

“This we shall do no more for them,” he says. “If we build cities, we mean to possess them.”

He says, “The Lord says that we shall never do “another day’s work, nor spend another dollar “to build up a Gentile city or nation.”

That way we’re building up the kingdom of God. We’re building up Zion as opposed to building up the world, building up Babylon.

And we talked about this two classes ago, the importance of when we are dependent upon them for something, then we give up our conscience to go along with it.

There were people that got shots to be able to keep their jobs.

They were people that wore masks to be able to go shopping.

And so because they felt that they needed to do those things, they were not independent financially, meaning they were integrated into the system.

And so they felt that they had to be able to keep their jobs. they had to put a poison in their body or to be able to go shopping at the food their family needed, they felt they had to cover up their face.

And so you can see how important it is that we remain economically independent.

So now one of the ways that they got us to get away from this, we have Alfred Cumming who was the first territorial governor imposed on us by the federal government.

And he wrote to the Utah legislature and told them that the laws of Deseret were made in isolation without our oversight.

You guys were all by yourself.

You guys didn’t get our permission.

You guys didn’t get our input.

You cannot expect a continuance of that isolation which has characterized your early history and new relations between us must occur.

I urge you to appoint committees to prepare new laws suited for your re -entrance into the national system.

We have to start working you and getting you to that economic order.
