Natural Law

To be effective in our efforts to defend liberty we have to understand “natural law”, or what the Founders call in the Declaration of Independence, “the law of nature and of nature’s God”.

If we fail to understand these basic timeless principles, we will be easily caught off guard in supporting programs and causes that actually end up eroding liberty instead of preserving it.

Proper Role of Government

George Washington said that government, “like fire, is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.”

Understanding how government can be used as an effective tool for preserving liberty, when kept within its proper bounds, is essential to ensuring it doesn’t become our “fearful master”.

The Constitution

The Constitution, when followed, has proven to be an effective tool needed to keep government in check and contained to its sole role of protecting our God given rights.

The tools in this section help us better grasp the principles of the Constitution to more effectively hold government accountable.

Kingdom of God

In Alexis de Tocqueville’s ‘Democracy in America’ he explained that America was different and able to build a government that protected rights because, “every citizen.. is taught, the doctrines and the evidences of his religion.” Christians have been praying, “Thy Kingdom come” for a millennia because they look forward to the government that will protect every person in their legal rights.

Socialism / Communism

Call it Socialism, Communism, or Fascism, we are talking about giving the state total power over our lives. This is the antithesis of what we are trying to build and has been the cause of the death of hundreds of millions of people in the last hundred years alone.

Understanding this ideology and why it is so dangerous is an essential element in building and maintaining a free society.

Secret Combinations

Not understanding the coordinated enemy of freedom is the biggest reason the efforts of so many advocates for liberty end up failing.

The ancient Chinese General, Sun Tzu, wrote in The ‘Art of War’, that if you know yourself and you know your enemy, you will not lose in a hundred battles. When we fail to recognize the principle of wolves in sheeps clothing, we invite defeat.

Civic Responsibilities

Once we understand the principles that have always led to good government, it’s time we understand our responsibility to be actively engaged in its preservation. “Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty”.

Solutions

What are practical applications of fulfilling our civic duty? When we engage in specific solutions to restore or maintain liberty we have to understand what works, what doesn’t work, and why.

Nullification

Nullification is so key in our efforts, it needs its own section. This is how generations past went on the offensive against would be tyrants to ensure liberty was not lost.
